Scenic Ardennes

Day 1

TO CHARLEROI
Following the Channel crossing to Calais we make our way to Charleroi where we stay for the next four nights on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. (D)

Day 2

BOCQ VALLEY RAILWAY & NAMUR
This morning we make our way to the historic village of Spontin for a one hour return train ride on the Le Chemin de Fer du Bocq railway. We travel by vintage 1950's railcar with a guide providing commentary as we follow the Luxembourg Rail Line along the Ardennes' picturesque Bocq Valley. We then make our time to Wallonia's capital of Namur where we spend the afternoon. (B, D)

Day 3

LA ROCHE-EN-ARDENNE & BRASSERIE CHOUFFE
Today we enjoy a scenic drive to La Roche-en-Ardenne in the heart of the Ardennes. Nicknamed the 'Gem of the Ardennes, this pretty town boasts a ruined castle and quaint streets to explore. This afternoon we visit the Brasserie Chouffe brewery in Achouffe for a guide tour and tasting of some delicious beers. (B,D)

Day 4

DINANT & LES JARDINS D'ANNEVOIE
Our excursion today takes us to Dinant which lies under a huge rock top citadel overlooking the River Meuse. Here we board a 45 minute river cruise to Anseremme admiring beautiful sights along the way. We return to Dinant by coach and after some free time at leisure we enjoy a visit to the Jardins d'Annevoie, beautiful 17th century water gardens. (B, D)

Day 5

FROM CHARLEROI
We depart after breakfast and make our way for the Channel crossing and continue our journey back to South Wales. (B)
