Provence & The Carmague

Day 1

TO OVERNIGHT HOTEL
Following the Channel crossing to Calais and complete the journey to our overnight dinner, bed & breakfast accommodation. (D)

Day 2

OVERNIGHT HOTEL TO UZÈS
We complete the journey south to our resort arriving in time for dinner. (B,D)

Day 3

PONT DU GARD & NÎMES
Excursion to the ancient Roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard, an amazing feat of engineering built more than 2,000 years ago and now a UNESCO Heritage Site. Here we visit the museum and visitor centre which provides an insight into how the aqueduct was made. We continue to the city of Nîmes which was established by the Romans, with free time to explore. (B,D)

Day 4

UZÈS
Enjoy a day at leisure to relax in resort. Why not take a stroll into the medieval centre of Uzès where the market traditionally takes place on Wednesday in the picturesque Place aux Herbes. (B, D)

Day 5

ARLES & THE CAMARGUE
Today we head to the beautiful city of Arles with time at leisure to view its Roman ampitheatre and trace the steps of its one-time resident, Vince van Gogh. In the afternoon we travel to the Camargue Natural Park, a wildlife rich delta of plains and salt marshes. Here we take a narrated 90 minute Camargue paddleboat cruise to spots its horses, bulls and flamingos during which time we visit a horse and bull farm. (B, D)

Day 6

AVIGNON & LES-BAUX-DE-PROVENCE
We spend time this morning in medieval Avignon whose highlights include the 12th century Pont d'Avignon and the Palais de Papes, the seat of medieval popes. In the afternoon we visit the charming hillside village of Les Baux-de-Provence with time to explore the small streets and cafés.

Please note that the visit to Les Baux-de-Provence requires a walk uphill to the village as the centre is not accessible by coach.

Day 7

UZÈS TO OVERNIGHT HOTEL
We depart our hotel and continue to our overnight dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation. (B,D)

Day 8

FROM OVERNIGHT HOTEL
Continue to Calais and complete the journey home. (B)
