Day 1
TO ROUEN
Following our Channel crossing to Calais, we make our way to Rouen where we stay for the next four nights.
Day 2
DEAUVILLE & HONFLEUR
Today we first visit the stylish and elegant resort of Deauville. Often referred to as the 'Parisian Riviera', Deauville is known for its grand casino, horse races and film festival. Here you can take a stroll along Les Planches, a 1920's boardwalk backing the expansive sandy beach, or do some window shopping in the designer boutiques. We continue on to Honfleur, located on the estuary wither the River Seine meets the English Channel. It is a pretty port with historic houses and many charming restaurants on the quayside. (B)
Day 3
FREE DAY
Enjoy a day to explore Rouen at leisure. Rouen is the capital of Normandy and its skyline is dominated by the spires of the Notre-Dame Cathedral that was much painted by Claude Monet. You will also find a charming cobblestoned pedestrian centre with medieval half-timbered houses, just waiting to be discovered. (B)
Day 4
GIVERNY & VERNON
Today we travel to Monet's country retreat in the charming village of Giverny. Here you can explore the impressionist painter's charming pink house and iconic gardens at leisure. Relax in the gardens admitting the Japanese bridge and famous waterlily pond, before visiting the small but excellent art gallery the Musée des Impressionnismes. We continue to the pretty neighbouring village of Vernon with over 200 half timbered houses. (B)
Day 5
FROM ROUEN
We travel to Calais for the return sea crossing and complete the journey home. (B)
Please note
Whilst we have carefully planned our programme to be as relaxing and informative as possible, the tour does require a certain level of physical ability in order to walk reasonable distances, sometimes over uneven ground.
