Sound of Music - Austria

Day 1

TO OVERNIGHT HOTEL
Following the Channel crossing to Calais we complete the journey to our overnight dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation. (D)

Day 2

OVERNIGHT HOTEL TO ST GEORGEN IM ATTERGAU
We complete the journey to our resort where we stay for the next five nights. (B, D)

Day 3

SOUND OF MUSIC & THE SALZKAMMERGUT
Today we visit the Salzkammergut region where we will stop in Mondsee to see the beautiful Baroque twin towered church that was featured in the wedding scene of the Sound of Music. Later we visit St Gilgen on the shores of Lake Wolfgang where we take a boat cruise across the lake to St Wolfgang and enjoy free time before returning to the hotel. (B, D)

Day 4

SALZBURG & SOUND OF MUSIC CITY TOUR
Our excursion today takes is the beautiful city of Salzburg, birthplace of Mozart an home to 'The Sound of Music'. A guided walking tour will show you the main historic sights and some of the film locations including the Residenz Platz. You will also have free time to explore the stunning Mirabel Gardens, see the quaint Glockenspiel Tower and visit the shops in the famous Gerieidegasse. This evening we will enjoy a Sound of Music Dinner Show. (B, D)

Day 5

BERCHTESGADEN & EAGLE'S NEST
Today we cross the border in to Germany and visit Berchtesgaden, chosen by Bavarian Kings as their summer residence. It is surrounded by majestic mountains, on top of one is the 'Eagle's Nest', a building given to Hitler for his 50th birthday. It is accessed only by special mountain buses and offers spectacular views. We continue on to Lake König or Kings Lake where you can take a stroll along the St. Bartholoma Peninsula with unmistakable red onion domes atop the ancient pilgrimage church. (B, D)

Day 6

TRAUNSEE & GMUNDEN
Enjoy the beautiful scenery of Lake Traunsee on our excursion to Gmunden where we will visit Gmundner Ceramics and also Schloss Ort, a complex of two castles on the island of Ort near Gmunden. (B, D)

Day 7

ST GEORGEN TO OVERNIGHT HOTEL
We depart our hotel and continue to our overnight dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation. (B, D)

Day 8

FROM OVERNIGHT HOTEL
Continue to Calais and complete the journey home. (B)
