NORTHLINK FERRIES

Cabins on board NorthLink Ferries are modern and fully equipped with an en-suite bathroom, tea, coffee-making facilites and have individual temperature controls.  There is a self-service restaurant on board and bars shops and a cinema.

 

We are given both 4 berth and 2 berth cabins so no-one would have to use the top bunks, in the 2 berth cabins it is 2 lower fixed beds.

 

 

 

Day 1

OVERNIGHT HOTEL
We travel to northern England / southern Scotland where we stay overnight. (D)

Day 2

OVERNIGHT HOTEL TO ABERDEEN
We continue our journey northwards to Aberdeen from where we board the overnight Northink sailing to Lerwick with dinner included on board. (B, D)

Day 3

NORTHERN ISLES (YELL & UNST)
We wake up in Shetland this morning and after breakfast, join our local guide for a tour of the Northern Isles, Yell and Unst. During the day we'll see the vast Sullom Voe Oil Terminal and take a short ferry crossing to Yell with included entry to the Old Haa Museum full of artefacts from the lives of islanders. We catch another ferry to Unst which has been home to the RAF for many years. A light lunch is included before seeing Muckle Flugga, the most northern tip of the UK then we make our way to Lerwick where we stay for the next two nights. (B, L, D)

Day 4

SOUTH & WEST MAINLAND
Today we depart on a coastal tour towards Sumburgh Head stopping at probably the best beach on Shetland - St Ninian's. We continue on to the Viking Jarlshof archeological site, one of Europe's largest spanning over 5000 years, with entry included into the Croft House Museum. In the afternoon we have a photo stop of Shetland Ponies then visit Scalloway, the former capital of Shetland with its 15th century castle. Entry is included to the museum here. (B, D)

Day 5

FREE DAY IN LERWICK
Enjoy a day at leisure in Lerwick. (B, D)

Day 6

NORTH MAINLAND
This morning we see Voe, Brae and the 'Drongs' a spectacular series of sea stacks before visiting the Tangwick Haa Musuem with entrance included. In the afternoon we'll enjoy a guided tour of Shetland Nomadic Workshop then free time in Lerwick before we board the Northink ferry for the overnight sailing with dinner taken on board. (B, D)

Day 7

ANGUS & FIFE
After breakfast on board the ship we take the coastal road passing St Cyrus Beach, Montrose and Arbroath, famous for its 'Smokies'. You'll have free time in Dundee to explore at leisure as well as visiting the new Victoria & Albert Museum with entrance included before continuing on to our overnight hotel. (B,D)

Day 8

FROM OVERNIGHT HOTEL
We depart this morning and complete the journey home. (B)
