From our base in the spa town of Llandrindod Wells we’ll explore the heart of Wales with visits to Welshpool and Aberystwyth, entrance to majestic Powis Castle, a scenic journey on the Vale of Rheidol Railway and a drive through the Elan Valley famous for its spectacular dams.

WELSHPOOL & POWIS CASTLE

Scenic drive through rolling hills and valleys to reach Welshpool where you will find elegant Georgian buildings along the narrow lanes. After free time here we visit majestic Powis Castle, partly medieval but with grand 17^th century interiors. It also features on of the finest historic gardens in Wales, created in an Italian Renaissance style.

ABERYSTWYTH & VALE OF RHEIDOL RAILWAY

We journey through the beautiful Wye Valley to the seaside resort of Aberystwyth in the middle of the Ceredigion coastline. After free time to admire the independent shops and Victorian promenade we board one of the great little trains of Wales, the Vale of Rheidol Railway for a spectacular journey through the Rheidol Valley to Devils Bridge before returning to our hotel.

ELAN VALLEY

Enjoy a relaxing drive though the Elan Valley, famous for its spectacular dams, built in the late 19^th and early 20^th century to provide Birmingham with its water supply. We’ll call into the Elan Valley Visitor Centre from where you can appreciate the view of the River Lana and Caban Coch Dam.

Day 1

We depart local pick ups and travel to our hotel for 4 nights dinner, bed & full Welsh breakfast

Days 2 - 4

At leisure in resort with the following included excursions:
1. Welshpool & Powis Castle
2. Vale of Rhedol Railway journey & Aberystwyth
3. Morning visit to Elan Valley

Day 5

Following breakfast we make our way back home with suitable comfort stops en route.
