From our base on Lake Maggiore, backed by the distant snow-capped Alps we’ll explore Lake Como and Lake Orta with included boat trips on all three lakes as well as taking a breathtaking ride on the Centovalli Train from Italy to Switzerland with free time to explore pretty Locarno at leisure.

The Intra Hotel is an historic building dating back to 1879 and has been managed by the Garlandini family for three generations. It is located on the promenade overlooking Lake Maggiore.

Day 1
TO OVERNIGHT HOTEL
Following our Channel crossing to Calais, we complete the journey to our overnight dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation. (D)
Day 2
FROM OVERNIGHT HOTEL TO INTRA
We complete the journey to our resort of Intra, a charming little town on the Borromean Gulf, arriving in time for dinner. (B, D)
Day 3
LAKE MAGGIORE & THE BORROMEAN ISLANDS
Today we enjoy an excursion to Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands with our guide. We first visit Isola Bella for a guided tour of the Palace and the magnificent park. From Isola Bella we take a boat once again to Isola Pescatori (Fisherman's Island) with free time for lunch at leisure. On arrival back to Stresa you will have free time to stroll around this pretty town on the shores of Lake Maggiore. (B, D)
Day 4
LAKE ORTA & ISOLA SAN GIULIO
Today we enjoy a leisurely guided excursion to Lake Orta, one of the smallest of northern Italy's Alpine lakes. We travel via Omega to the charming car free lakeside village of Orta San Giulio from where we enjoy a circular boat cruise to take in the stunning views. (B, D)
Day 5
SWITZERLAND & THE CENTOLVALLI TRAIN
A highlight of the tour today as we travel on the Centovalli Train from Domodossola and travel through the fascinating 'Valley of hundred valleys' for several hours crossing 83 bridges and viaducts before arriving in the Swiss town of Locarno. After some time to explore this pretty town at leisure we return to our hotel by coach. (B, D)
Day 6
LAKE COMO
This morning we make our way to Como, once the centre of the ancient silk industry now a bustling tourist destination. At the heart of Como's walled Old Town, the Piazza San Fedele has many 400 year old buildings and a beautiful basilica. In the afternoon we take a boat around the Gulf of Como and admire the breath-taking scenery. (B,D)
Day 7
INTRA TO OVERNIGHT HOTEL
We depart our hotel and continue to our overnight dinner, bed and breakfast accommodation. (B,D)
Day 8
FROM OVERNIGHT HOTEL
Continue to Calais and complete the journey home. (B)
