Jutting out of the Med like an impregnable fortress, Corsica resembles a miniature continent, with astounding geographical diversity. The landscape morphs from glittering bays, glitzy coastal cities and fabulous beaches to saw-tooth peaks, breathtaking valleys, dense forests and enigmatic hilltop villages. Though Corsica has officially been part of France for more than 200 years, it feels different from the mainland in lots of ways from customs and cuisine to language and character, and thats part of its appeal. Locals love talking about their Corsican identity so plenty of engaging evenings await, especially if the holy trilogy of food, wine and melodious Corsican music are involved.

Following the Channel crossing we travel to our overnight half board accommodation.
We continue the journey through France and board the overnight ferry to Corsica.
On arrival in Corsica, continue to Bastia, this Genoese city clinging to the mountainside and overlooking the Tuscan coast, is an animated city, characterised by its Mediterranean charm. We visit the city by mini-train: the alleys lined with high houses, the coloured facades, the Place de l’Hotel de Ville, St. Nicolas square, the market square, the old port and the cafe terraces. We check into our hotel late afternoon.
Today’s excursion takes us to Ille Rousse a laid-back seaside town, lying at the foot of the Balagne hills. It has beaches of white sand, and a bustling marketplace with cafés huddled beneath the plane trees in the village square. We continue to Calvi, basking between the fiery orange bastions of its 15th-century citadel and the glittering waters of a moon-shaped bay, Calvi feels closer to the chichi sophistication of a French Riviera resort than a historic Corsican port. Palatial yachts and private cruisers jostle for space along its harbour-side, lined with upmarket brasseries and cafes, while high above the quay the watchtowers and battlements of the town’s Genoese stronghold stand guard, proffering sweeping views inland to Monte Cinto. Our guided walking tour will take in the honey coloured citadel on its crag, the promenade, the port and the old town.
Depart for Cap Corse, a narrow peninsula with little bays, old terrace cultivations, golden beaches and precipitous cliffs. Pietranera, Miomo, with its Genovese tower clinging to schist cliffs above a pebble beach. Erbalunga, a picturesque fishing village much appreciated by painters.St. Lucie pass. Enjoy superb views of the Gulf of Aliso, the port of Santa Severa. Experience Pino, a village constructed like a balcony above the sea and Nonza with its stone-roofed houses, perched on a steep rock.Depart for Patrimonio to enjoy a tasting of the famous Corsican wines. Continue to St. Florent. Return to the hotel through the Desert of Agriates.
Today we visit the Marsulinu Pass, the Valley of Fango and the La Croix Pass. Arrive in the Gulf of Porto, featured in the UNESCO World Heritage listings, a marvelous site of red granite cliffs above an intense blue sea. Continue to the famous and stunning Calanche of Piana - natural orange-red granite formations. Return to Porto we cruise from Porto to the Calanche of Piana . Situated in the south of the Scandola nature reserve, the Calanche of Piana are part of a large volcanic complex. Continue on to the Gorges of Spelunca which offer great views of the breath-taking scenery. Visit Evisa, a village surrounded by chestnut woods and cross the Aitone Forest, with its pine and beech trees. Continue en-route to Vico and Sagone before reaching Ajaccio. Check-in at the Hotel Marina Viva, Porticcio.
Day at leisure.
Depart for Bonifacio. The upper town, perched on a steep promontory, dominates the Mediterranean. Board a boat trip to discover the marine caves and the impressive cliffs. Return ashore. Visit Bonifacio by mini-train. Return to the hotel.
