ORLÉANS TO BORDEAUX
We continue our journey to Bordeaux where we board our ship for our four nights cruise. Join the crew for a welcome cocktail before dinner and afterwards join a guided tour of Bordeaux by night. (B, D)
BORDEAUX TO PAUILLAC
Early this morning we'll start cruising along the River Garonne towards Pauillac, a municipality in the Girond Département, midway along the Gironde Estuary. In the afternoon we'll join an excursion by coach to follow the trail of the Grands Crus wines of Médoc, an area of the world that produces some of the most prestigious red wines on the planet. On our tour we'll stop to taste some of the most famous wines of the region. (B, L, D)
PAUILLAC TO BLAYE
Today sees us cruising towards Blaye, and from here we'll leave on a guided coach tour along the Route de la Corniche Fleurie, where you will see the old traditional fishing huts on stilts and the remarkable limestone cliffs. We will also stop in Bourg to take in the impressive views and in the market centre you'll be able to taste the local figs. Arriving back in Blaye we'll have a tour of the Citadel and end our tour with a tasting of the famous Blaye Pralines. Returning on board we'll cruise on the Gironde all the way to the estuary whilst enjoying an evening of dancing. (B,L,D)
BLAYE TO LIBOURNE
Today we'll cruise to Libourne, a town rich in history and character situated at the confluence of the Isle and Dordogne Rivers. Upon arrival we'll depart by coach for Saint-Emilion where we'll first enjoy a tour of the underground monuments in the village. Next we visit a troglodytic site carved entirely in limestone, and the largest in Europe. Finally we'll visit a family-owned wine growing estate where we will learn about the wine making process in Saint-Emilion before enjoying a tasting of the delicious wine. This evening enjoy a festive gala dinner and evening. (B,L,D)
LIBOURNE TO ORLÉANS
We cruise to Bordeaux this morning and disembark then make our way to Orléans in the Loire region where we stay overnight on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. (B, D)
We travel to Calais for the return sea crossing and complete the journey home. (B)
