Following the Channel crossing we continue to our overnight half board accommodation in Metz.
After breakfast we travel through France and the Alsace to the Capital of the region, Strasbourg. Early afternoon we travel through the Black Forest to arrive at the picture-postcard village of Tilburg famed for its Cuckoo clock and Black Forest carvings. We travel on to our hotel in Lossburg in time for dinner and overnight stay.
We depart early to Lake Constance and arrive in pretty Meersburg in time for morning coffee. Our journey takes us across the border into Austria and the 800 year old imperial city of Innsbruck famed for its Golden Roof and medieval houses. This afternoon we climb into the Alps crossing Europa Bridge and travelling along the Brenner Pass and onto the lakeside in Lake Garda and our hotel.
Today we join our privately chartered boat tosample the wondrous sights of Lake Garda. Our cruise will take us to Sirmione, perched on the southern most peninsular of the lake and dominated by its 13th Century castle.
Depart Lake Garda and make our way to Rome – Italy’s capital, the eternal city!
We take a walking guided tour of Rome to include the famous sights such as the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Vatican City and Trevi Fountain to name but a few.
After breakfast we carry on south to the beautiful 6th Century Benedictine Abbey of Montecassino. Our journey continues to the petrified city of Pompeii, where time stood still as Vesuvius’s ashes buried the Roman city for centuries. We continue along the Neapolitan peninsula to arrive at the Grand Hotel Moon Valley in Sorrento.
We visit the Island of Capri today, home to many of the rich and famous including the late Gracie Fields. There will be a full tour of the island along with a visit to Anacapri. We then board a boat to visit the Blue Grotto a beautiful cave where the water sparkles as the sunlight streams through and creates a turquoise effect. We return to Sorrento in time for dinner.
Today we take a local coach for a spectacular scenic journey which takes us along the Amalfi Coast with panoramic views. Our first stop is the Emerald Grotto in Conca dei Marini, we travel in rowing boats into the vast caverns. Later we carry along the testing coastal road to the brightly painted town of Positano before arriving at Amalfi with its sunny piazzas. Time to explore before continuing up to Ravello, sitting 365 meters above the Tyrrhenian Sea.
We head into the charming rolling hills, ancient farmlands and lush vineyards of Tuscany today before arriving in magnificent Florence and our hotel.
After breakfast we take the train into Florence, the heart of Italian art and culture to meet our guide who will take us on walking tour of the city.
We bid farewell to Florence and travel to Aosta for overnight stay and dinner.
After breakfast we travel through Italy into France and make our way to the capital city Paris in time for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Free time to enjoy the sights of Paris. This evening we will eat at the famous Brasserie Chez Eugene, with free time to explore the bohemian city at night.
Continue to Calais and complete the journey home.
While we have carefully planned our programme to be as relaxing and informative as possible the tour does require a certain level of physical ability in order to walk reasonable distances, sometimes over uneven ground. Electric scooters and or wheelchairs would also not be suitable for this tour.
