Following the Channel crossing we continue to our overnight half board accommodation.
We complete the journey to Aarhus for our overnight stay. Aarhus is Denmark’s second largest city based on the Jutland Peninsular and is an elegant mix of cosmopolitan city and quaint small town charm. For 2017 Aarhus is nominated to be the Cultural Capital of Europe and has many events and activities planned.
Today we start our day with a 2-hour guided tour of Aarhus to take in its many sights and attractions including Aarhus Cathedral , the “hyggelige” Latin Quarter, the old houses in Mollestein, the Aboulrvard and harbour. Later we take the ferry across to Odden and continue our journey to Copenhagen and our hotel.
Discover Copenhagen on our guided tour taking in the wonderful sights of castles, royal palaces, Nyhaven the old Carlsberg brewery site and not forgetting the famous “Little Mermaid”. We then travel to the Viking town of Roskilde and visit its world-famous Viking ship museum. This evening we visit Tivoli Gardens Denmark’s illustrious amusement park and pleasure gardens. Part of the garden’s secret is that there is something for everyone, beautiful scenery, exotic architecture, historic buildings and lush gardens. At night thousands of coloured lights adorn the site and create a fairy-tale atmosphere which is unique.
We visit two of Denmark’s famous castles today. Hillerod’s Frederiksborg Slot, this impressive castle was built in the 17th century by the Danish King Christian IV and incorporates the best of Renaissance architecture. This afternoon we continue onto Kronbourg Slot in Helsingor famed by Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Kronbourg is a world heritage site with soaring towers, a huge banqueting hall and damp casemates.

This morning we drive to Funen crossing the great belt bridge Storebaeltsbroen. We visit Egeskov Slot famous for being the best preserved moat castle in Europe. Then its onto Odense home of Hans Christian Anderson and we take a 2- hour guided tour to find out all about Denmark’s celebrated son. Later we proceed to Kolding for our overnight half board stay.

Continue to Calais and complete the journey home.
